GMHH France's main objective is to promote exchanges between the bearers of Maori culture and France and Europe, in particular the members of the GMHH France association, but also the general public. Since its creation, GMHH France has invited a number of Maori cultural figures to France and Europe, and has partly sponsored their trips and stays, for example to :
attend the inauguration of the Haka Rongo Aio Formation in 2016 in Thônes, take part in the United Earth Celebration in Chardenoux, speak at the Haka Rongo Aio Formation in Sagnol, give lectures on the theme “Life after death from a Maori perspective”, create a Maori sculpture of a Pou Ahu in Chardenoux, guide dances at a Shamanic Festival.
These encounters have fostered profound exchanges and enriched both parties. In particular, the interest shown in the Maori representatives made them aware of the extent of their cultural heritage, which they can share with the world. Having suffered racism towards their people and disregard for their culture in their own country, this welcome reinforces and sustains their self-confidence and the intimate knowledge that their culture is essential and rich. It also helps them to make the decision to share the human and spiritual richness of their culture far from home, and has shown them that this exchange is possible and fruitful for all.
In return, once a year the GMHH New Zealand Foundation organizes an event in the northern part of Aotearoa, where people from all over the world have the unique opportunity to meet Maori up close, and interact naturally with them, to spend several nights in ancestral Maori homes and to see the country in a different light, more from the connected perspective of a Maori.
It is in this spirit that the two organizations, GMHH NZ and GMHH FR, created by Maori Ojasvin Kingi Davis and his wife Waimaania Iris Häusermann Davis work closely together, to contribute to understanding between peoples.
